Abstract:
In the article the author studies the specificity of usage of cognitive metaphor theory in theology language area. Its peculiarities in comparison with artistic and scientific ones are described. Religious metaphor is presented as an independent cognitive unit, as the best tool of theology. The author gives some examples of metaphors from Gospel according to John, that show that the metaphorical naming of God is related to the forerunning and succeeding religious concepts.
